About this event

The 18th North East West South (N.E.W.S.) Conference and Vice Chancellors' Symposium was held at Lumbini Buddhist University on 2–3 April 2025. Organised in association with the University Grants Commission (UGC) Nepal and the Global University Network for Innovation (GUNI), the conference brought together more than 200 delegates — faculty, researchers and university leaders from Nepal and abroad — under the theme "Human Resource Development for the 4th Industrial Revolution". The programme bridged modern academic insight with the timeless teachings of Buddhism, in the spiritual setting of Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha.

Following a call for papers, around 30 submissions were received and 24 final papers were presented across four parallel academic tracks. The second day was devoted to a Vice Chancellors' Symposium and dedicated sessions on higher education and alternative medicine, concluding with an MoU signing ceremony and the handover of the N.E.W.S. Conference presidency to Lumbini Buddhist University.
